Two University of Southern Indiana Cross Country runners nab top honors for the week after impressive showings at the University of Kentucky's Bluegrass Invitational this past Saturday.

For the women, senior Julia Kohnen grabbed the GLVC's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after setting a school record for the quickest finish in a 5k by clocking in at 17 minutes, three seconds, and seven-tenths of a second. The previous record was set nine years ago by Heather Cooksey at 17 minutes, and nine seconds flat. The record-setting performance was good enough for a seventh place finish in the field of 96.

On the men's side, junior Johnnie Guy scored the same honor after finishing second out of 124 by registering a 8k time of 24 minutes, 1.15 seconds, and helping the men's team secure a fourth place finish in a field of 10 teams that included the number four ranked team in NCAA Division I, Oklahoma State, and Eastern Kentucky University, currently ranked number 21 in the country.

Both teams will travel to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the Greater Louisville Classic on October 4th.
