Tony Stewart Will Return To Racing This Weekend in Atlanta

Stewart-Haas Racing announced Thursday three-time Sprint Cup champ Tony Stewart will return to racing this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Stewart has missed the last three races following the tragedy on August 9, where he struck and killed fellow Sprint car racer Kevin Ward, Jr. in upstate New York. A spokeswoman for the Ontario County (NY) Sheriff's office said Tuesday there was nothing new to report on the status of the death investigation.

NASCAR is reinforcing the rule that states a driver involved in an accident may not exit his or her car unless there is an emergency. No driver is allowed to walk on the racing surface.
