I'm not much of a "cryer", and while I didn't shed any tears during Scott's speech at last night's ESPY Awards, they were there, along with a lump in my throat as the longtime ESPN anchor delivered a powerful speech about his battle with cancer and how it's fight he, and no one, can take on alone.

As I watched the speech, I was impressed by it's honesty. Anytime you hear about someone battling cancer, it seems there's always one prevalent theme — they are a fighter. While that is without a doubt true, you have to be, I appreciated Scott's candor as he spoke of days where he doesn't want to fight. He wants to rest in the hopes of fighting another day. Those are the days when he leans on those around him whether that's family, friends, or doctors to pick up the torch and help him through undoubtedly the most difficult period in his life.

It's a captivating and powerful speech, and one that should inspire others battling cancer, or any other life-threatening disease, to not be afraid to lean on those around them when the fight gets too tough to fight alone.
